About the 2016 Austria 1 Oz Platinum Philharmonic Coin

Did you know that the above ground platinum inventories have largely dwindled in the last 20 years?

As recently as 2016, industry reports show just over 2,000 metric tonnes of platinum remain above ground while global demand for physical platinum as a 21st Century investment has increased many multiples.

This precious 1 oz Vienna Philharmonic bullion coin is struck in .9995 pure platinum.

Introduced in 2016, this is the 1st year a platinum coin has been issued by the over 800 year old Austrian Mint. This new platinum coin joins the Austrian Mint’s bullion program which began in 1989 with its 1st gold coin issue expanding in 2008 to offer silver bullion coins.

Product highlights:

  • Holds 1 troy oz of .9995 fine platinum.
  • Orders of 10 oz are packaged in Austrian Mint tubes. Individual coins will be shipped in protective plastic flips.
  • These coins are eligible for Platinum IRAs.
  • Guaranteed by the Austrian Mint.
  • Issued with a legal tender face value of 100 Euros but its trading value reflects much higher market spot prices.
  • Available in a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition.
  • Extremely private investment as these coins remain exempt from IRS 1099 Dealer Reporting requirements.

Like the silver and gold versions, this platinum coin features the same award-winning design as its gold or silver counterparts by Austrian Mint head designer, Thomas Pesendorfer.

This coin pays homage to the world-famous orchestra of Austria. The back of the coin depicts the organ of the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna (the orchestra’s home city). The front of the coin contains an assortment of musical instruments. This new platinum coin is now available in 1 troy ounce denominations, and will be sold throughout the world.

The Vienna Philharmonic legal tender platinum coin has global recognition and is easily traded according to fluctuating global platinum spot prices.
