About the Highland Mint (HM) 1 Oz Seated Liberty Silver Round

This round from the Highland Mint recreates some of America's most popular coinage from the 19th century.

Here are some highlights of this round:

  • Weighs 1 troy ounce, made of .999 fine silver bullion.
  • Produced by the Highland Mint in the United States of America.
  • Features classic design paying homage to the Seated Liberty design from 19th century US coinage.
  • As a bullion round, its value is mainly based on the fluctuating spot price of silver.

This round is known as a bullion round. That means the value of this round is primarily driven by the spot price of silver moving up or down. This straightforward, no frills, silver investment is desired by many investors who are simply seeking a play on the price of silver going up.

This round's design seeks to replicate the original “Gobrecht Dollar,” so named because the original designer's name (Christian Gobrecht) was featured prominently on the coins. This design, which features sitting Lady Liberty, appeared on many US coins in the 19th century. It shows Lady Liberty sitting with her head cocked back as if looking for something behind her. She holds up the shield of liberty and is surrounded by stars. At the bottom of the round is the year 1854. Note that, unlike typical coins, this is not the year of manufacture of the round, but rather pays tribute to this year.

On the reverse side of the round is featured the American eagle & shield design. The eagle clutches in its talons the olive branch and arrows (symbolizing peace and war). On the shield the word “COPY” appears. This language is required on all privately minted rounds whose design closely resembles an official legal tender coin design, so that people will not be confused and think the round is legal tender. Across the top of the coin appears, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” Just underneath the eagle's left wing appears the manufacturer's mark “HM” for Highland Mint. At the bottom of the round is stamped “1 TROY OZ.” & “.999 FINE SILVER” specifying the rounds weight, purity, and metal type, respectively.

The Highland Mint was established in the 1980s in Melbourne, Florida. In addition to minting silver products, they are world famous for their official sports memorabilia (cards, coins, and other collectables) for professional sports leagues. Thanks to their high-quality minting technology, quite a few investors and other customers use the Highland Mint for custom precious metals products.

All orders from Monument Metals are discretely shipped, fully insured, and guaranteed as described.
